Although Gillespie & McLean Electrical Services are predominantly a commercial contractor, we have carried out a number of domestic new build installations. These projects include, but are not limited to, new installs, extensions, EV charging points, security alarm systems and much more.

In one of our recent projects, we were instructed to carry out the Electrical, Fire Alarm, Intruder Alarm System and Gate Access installations to a new build property in Glasgow. We installed small power & lighting which included a modern centrepiece chandelier in their stairwell. The fire alarm system included smoke and heat detectors throughout the property. This project proved challenging as there were various controls systems that were put together with limited information.

Our first challenge was planning the route we were going to take to the gate from within the property. This involved coring holes & groundwork to run ducting so we could get our cables to the gate protected.

The next major task was to install the centrepiece chandelier. As with any chandelier install, we had to take extreme caution. In order to get the chandelier hanging down the stairwell as per the client’s specification, we built a scaffold over the stairwell and began by installing supports for the lights to hang from. After removal of the scaffold, we adjusted each support wire to the right height and connected the fittings.

The client was delighted with the final instalment and could relax and enjoy their new home with the peace of mind of having a top of the range alarm system. Check out what we did at Christchurch Dental!
